^C{TAKE A MESSAGE ^Cby Lynda Fowler} This Windows office productivity program will make it easy for your receptionist or secretary to keep track of your messages, or of messages for an entire office. Sort on multiple fields, set your preferences and print out individual messages, or a list of messages. ^C-------------- ^CFiles included ^C-------------- 1) {MESSAGE.EXE} -- The Windows program file. 2) {MESSAGE.HLP} -- WinHelp file. 3) {SAMPLE.MSG} -- Sample file. ^C-------------------- ^CWindows Installation ^C-------------------- The instructions which follow assume that you are running Windows from the Program Manager. They also assume that you have copied Take A Message onto drive "C:". If you copied it onto another drive (i.e., "D:"), make the appropriate adjustments in the installation instructions. NOTE: If you have a shell which runs on top of Windows (i.e. PubTech), you may not need to follow the instructions below or you may need to consult the manuals that came with your shell program. If you need assistance, you may contact Softdisk Publishing Technical Support at 1-800-831-2694. Once the ODM Shell program has created a new directory on your hard drive and copied all of the files into that directory, you will still need to run Windows and create a program item in order to get an icon for Take A Message. Follow these steps: 1) Start Windows by typing "WIN" at the DOS prompt (for example, C:\WIN, then press Enter). 2) Once Windows is running, go to the Program Manager Window. 3) If you have an Applications Program Group, open it and skip to step 6. 4) If you do not have an Applications Program Group, select New from the File Menu. When the dialog box comes up, select Program Group and click on the OK button (or press the ENTER key). 5) Type "Applications" in the Description field and click OK. You will now have a new window inside the Program Manager Window, and it will be titled "Applications." 6) Select New from the File Menu again. This time, when the dialog box comes up, select Program Item and click OK. 7) Type "Take A Message" in the Description field; tab to the Command Line field and type: "c:\ODM085\message.exe"; then tab to the Working Directory field and type: "c:\ODM085". Click OK. NOTE: If you put Take A Message into a different directory, you need to replace "c:\ODM085" in step 7 with the appropriate directory name. For example, if the new directory is actually "winmesg", you would type "c:\winmesg\message.exe" in the Command Line field and "c:\winmesg" in the Working Directory field. Once you have created the Program Item, the Take A Message icon should appear in the "Applications" Window. Now you can run Take A Message by double clicking the mouse on the icon. ^CFor more assistance, contact ^CSoftdisk Publishing Technical Support at ^C{1-800-831-2694} ^CWe hope you enjoy Take A Message.
