    ^1PC Tools Deluxe 5.1^0 is the newest version of Central Point Software's 
 award winning PC Tools software packages.  These programs have received rave 
 reviews from users and critics alike and the new deluxe version is even 
 better.  The novice user will find a DOS shell which takes disk formatting, 
 file copying, and other mundane and often confusing tasks and turns them into 
 simple clicks of the mouse or touches of the keyboard.  The experienced PC 
 user will find many useful routines for getting the most out of his or her 
 hard disk and improving system performance.  Users of all kinds can organize 
 their desktops with ^1PC Tools Deluxe^0's desktop managing features. 

    Features, features, features.  Pull-down menus, mouse support, and 
 windowing make the user interface one of the best around for this type of 
 software.  The features are divided into three major, integrated programs 
 that can also be run independently:  hard disk backup, data recovery and DOS 
 utilities, and desktop management.  

    The hard disk backup is quick and easy to use.  A 20 megabyte hard drive 
 can be backed up in as little as 8 minutes.  Up to 60% fewer diskettes can be 
 used with the optional file compression.  There is even a verify option that 
 practically guarantees the integrity of the backup.  After you have selected 
 the files to be backed up (by simply clicking on them with your mouse if you

 easy-to-use shell requiring less than 10K of resident memory.  Two drives or 
 paths can be worked with at the same time with overlapping windows for 
 directory and tree displays.  The user can locate lost files, copy and move 
 files, construct a menu of applications to run at the press of a button or 
 click of a mouse, sort directories, edit files, and perform many other handy 
 routines with ease.  Data and programs can be encrypted and compressed, 
 floppy and hard drives can be cached, files can be unfragmented (improving 
 hard disk performance) and undeleted, and it is even possible to recover data 
 from an accidentally formatted hard or floppy disk.  Is there anything this 
 program cannot do? 

    The third major feature is a desktop manager, and we all could use a 
 little additional organization and management.  There is a text editor 
 complete with word wrap, search and replace, and spelling checker.  Those 
 important appointments won't be missed if you use the appointment scheduler 
 to set alarms and check for schedule conflicts.  A database is included with 
 which you can create and edit dBASE III files.  Financial, algebraic, and 
 programmer calculators will eliminate whole-house searches for the family 
 calculator.  You can even upload or download files in the background while 
 you are working on your favorite application or playing that "can't get 
 enough of" game.  There is no need to buy separate desktop management
