The geomagnetic field at Learmonth (WA) was quiet 13th-14th, quiet to unsettled on 15th, and 17th-19th, and active to minor storm levels on 16th. Ionospheric F2 critical frequencies at Sydney were near pre- dicted monthly values on 13th-15th, followed an enhanced period of up to 30 per cent 0200-0400 UT on 16th, then returning to near normal. Depressions of up to 15 per cent were observed from 2100 UT on 16th through 17th. F2 frequencies returned to near predicted values thereafter, with spread F conditions 1800-2000 UT on 19th. Forecast for the next week (20 - 26 August) Solar : Low. Geomagnetic: Quiet to unsettled until 24-26th, when unsettled to active levels are expected due to a coronal hole. Ionospheric: Near normal.
