You'll first have to get Magician past the wizard (see the previous question).
If the wizard sees you, he'll zap you, so you'll have to keep yourself from being seen.
Using the elixir on Technician will do just that -- use it as close to the gate as possible, so the potion doesn't wear out before you get to the other side.
