"Godspeed" is a medieval expression used to wish a traveler luck as he departs, probably shortened from "God speed you on your way." This special program will speed you on your way to locating a word or phrase in the four Gospels of the New Testament, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Just type one or more words you wish to find, or the name and number of a verse, and the complete text of the desired parts will pop right up on your screen. Given the many pages contained in these books, one would imagine that a search for an arbitrary word would take a while, probably several minutes. But, amazingly, Gospel Godspeed pops up the appropriate verses matching your search criteria in about two seconds! This is done through a trade-secret indexing process that allows a word-by-word search without having to scan the entire text, but stores the whole thing, text and index data, so it fits on a single disk. Gospel Godspeed is intended as a demo of the full-scale product Godspeed, which contains the entire Bible, Old and New Testaments alike. Amazingly, this product (though it's large enough you need a hard disk to run it, unlike Gospel Godspeed which fits on a floppy) offers the same nearly-instantaneous search capability. Type any word, even common ones like "THE", and all verses with that word pop up before you can say "Deuteronomy". You'll just have to see it for yourself. Run it, and you will be given some brief introductory text (including ordering information for the full Bible and full New Testament versions), and then you'll get your chance to explore the Gospels. Godspeed to you! To run this program outside BIG BLUE DISK, type: ^1GODSPEED^0. To skip the introductory material and get right into the Gospel text search, type ^1GS^0.
