The game, of course, was played on a grid where you and a friend took turns connecting pairs of dots. If you drew a line that completed the fourth side of a box, you wrote your initials in the box, then drew another line. At the end of the game, when all of the dots had been connected, the person who had completed the most boxes won. Brian Sietz's SuperDots adds a few twists to this familiar game. If you choose to challenge the computer, you will find that the basic rules remain the same. SuperDots, however, has two options that make the game more interesting. Having "blank dots" in your grid pattern, for example, makes the game more difficult -- it takes skill to see the holes in the grid. Having "magic dots" in your grid makes the game unpredictable -- if you draw a line through one of these invisible dots, the magic dot sprouts lines in all four directions. But remember: the computer can take advantage of magic dots, too. In addition to adding blank dots and magic dots to your grid, you can choose both the length and the skill level of the game. You can also save a game to disk, then reload it when you want to complete the match. Because the numeric keypad is used to position your cursor around the dot grid, you must remember to keep the "NUM LOCK" key depressed. For more information on how to draw lines on the dot grid, consult the excellent instructions included with the program itself.
