Depending on the type and age of the car, mirror adjustment can be:


> Manual (the mirror is mounted on a ball/socket joint and must be pushed in to place manually (you may need help to adjust this type of mirror)

> Mechanical - a small lever inside the car moves the mirror in a corresponding direction

> Electric - a series of switches within reach of the driver actuate electric motors to adjust the mirror position.
