INTRODUCTION:
=============
1. Goldmine Goal Setter is a sophisticated, professionally
   developed Windows product for formulating and maintaining
   a set of Life Goals.
2. Having Life Goals can radically improve the degree of 
   happiness, fulfilment and satisfaction you experience
   while on this planet.
3. In keeping with Goldmine Systems' belief that this product
   can be of immense value to you, the registration fee 
   has been kept very modest: On average $30, plus a $5 
   shipping fee. (The actual fee varies according to your 
   income level.) 
4. You are strongly encouraged to take the concept of this
   product seriously: You can reap major personal rewards!!



INSTALLATION:
=============
1. If you have the three diskettes in zipped or packed format, 
   you need to unpack them, twice, to two sets of diskettes.  
   If the diskettes are in ready-to-install condition,
   then simply take a backup copy of the three diskettes.
   One set of diskettes is to be used for 
   installation, and the other set is for backup purposes, 
   and / or for giving away to your friends.

2. The installation procedure modifies install disk one 
   to contain the installer's name (and organisation if 
   relevant). Subsequent installations from those disks will 
   inform the new installer of the original installer's name.

3. If Windows is not running, start it up.

4. Make sure that you have at least 5MB of free disk space on 
   your hard drive. 
   Note: If you use an operating system which
   has disk compression, and compressed disk space, it is 
   recommended that two of Goldmine Goal Setter's files be 
   installed in UNCOMPRESSED disk space. This is due to the 
   fact that the files are relational database structures, 
   with sophisticated record-retrieval algorithms,
   which can be slowed down if the files are in compressed 
   disk space.
   The two files are:
   - GOALMINE.MDB
   - GOALMIGS.MDB .

5. Put the diskette labelled Disk 1 in the A: drive. 

6. Run, under Windows, A:\setup.exe . A standard 
   Microsoft-style Windows installation then begins.

7. NOTE: It is recommended that Goldmine Goal Setter 
   be installed in the default directory: C:\Goalmine.
   If you do not install it in this directory, you need to
   take special action, detailed later in this document.

8. Follow the on-screen installation instructions.

9. The installation procedure might request you to re-boot your 
   system after installation. Do so, if required.
   
10. After installation, double-click on the Goal Setter icon 
    to start Goldmine Goal Setter.
   
11. You will first see a screen saying 'Welcome to Goldmine'. 
    If you installed the product in C:\Goalmine, Press OK.
    (If not, see the special instructions later in this 
    document.)
   
12. You will then see a screen showing product registration 
    details. Read the information, and fill in personal 
    details such as name, and especially your date of birth.
    You are not at this time registering the product, 
    although you are most welcome to!
    Your date of birth is used for generating goal target dates
    for age-specific goals.
   
13. After entering your date of birth, press the button 
    labelled: Update Age-Specific Target Dates.

14. After that, a small window will appear showing you the 
    age-specific target dates. Press the Close button.
    Goldmine Goal Setter comes with some sample goals
    based on a date of birth of January 1, 1970.

15. Press the Registration Benefits button and read the 
    contents. Press OK when finished.
 
16. Press the Licence button, and read the contents. Press the 
    Exit button in the top right-hand corner of the screen 
    when finished. This will take you back to the Registration
    screen.

17. On the Registration screen, press OK. This will take you
    to Goldmine Goal Setter's main menu.
     
18. Display the Getting Started help topic by pressing F1.
    Follow the instructions in that topic to get an overview 
    of Goldmine Goal Setter. 

19. You are now ready to let Goldmine Goal Setter start 
    revolutionising your life!!!



NON-STANDARD INSTALLATIONS:
===========================
1. The file c:\Windows\GOALMIGS.INI needs to have 
   two lines altered:
   1.1 The second line in the file:
           Icon=c:\goalmine\goalmine.ico
       needs to be updated to show the correct directory.
   1.2 The third line in the file:
           HelpFile=c:\goalmine\goalmigs.hlp
       needs to be updated to show the correct directory.

2. The file c:\Windows\GOALMINE.INI needs to have 
   two lines altered:
   2.1 The second line in the file:
           Icon=c:\goalmine\goalmine.ico
       needs to be updated to show the correct directory.
   2.2 The third line in the file:
           HelpFile=c:\goalmine\goalmigs.hlp
       needs to be updated to show the correct directory.

3. At point 11 in the installation procedures above, you 
   need to follow a different procedure:
   3.1 On the 'Welcome to Goldmine' screen press the button 
       called Database Location.
   
   3.2 Press the Force New Database Location button.
   
   3.3 Press the Global Path Change button.
   
   3.4 Press the Browse button. This will pop open a window
       where you can search your disk directories.
   
   3.5 Locate the directory where GOALMINE.MDB is installed.
   
   3.6 Press OK on the small pop-up window.
   
   3.7 Press OK on the main screen. This will pop open
       another window asking for confirmation of the
       database relocation.
   
   3.8 Press Yes to force a rebuild of all attachments.
   
   3.9 Unless errors occurred, and on-screen instructions
       request you to do otherwise, Press Exit to take 
       you back to the 'Welcome to Goldmine' screen.
       You can now press OK on the Welcome screen, and
       resume standard start-up as at point 12
       in the installation instructions above.
