SB SPCL @ ARL $ARLX008 ARLX008 Invitation to Cuba QST de W1AW From ARRL Headquarters Newington CT February 17, 1994 To all radio amateurs Invitation to Cuba The Cuban Amateur Radio community has invited American amateurs to participate in a joint operation with Cuban amateurs in the 1994 ARRL June VHF QSO Party. ARRL Oklahoma Section Manager Joe Lynch, N6CL, was invited to lead the group, during a visit to Cuba the week of February 7. The operation would take place from Bellomonte. Officials of the Federacion Radioaficionados de Cuba (FRC) said they also have taken under consideration a proposal from an American group for a joint operation from Cuba on the HF bands in 1995. Lynch, in Cuba for a week as a member of a Methodist Church work team, extended greetings from ARRL officials, presented FRC President Ing. Pedro Rodriguez, CO2RP, with a certificate of participation for the June 1993 ARRL VHF QSO Party, and also presented an author's certificate to Arne Coro, CO2KK, for his article in December 1993 QST. Lynch's informal meetings with FRC officials were publicized on radio, television, and in the print media. Joe Lynch is VHF editor of CQ Magazine and also is editor of the QCWA Journal. NNNN /EX
