Hi, This level was made entirly from scratch with Deu50. It designed to be a deathmatch level. It is possible to get every weapon, and plays well with both monsters, and -nomonsters. The exit also requires cooperation from at least two people. It has several large fighting areas, many ambush spots, and several 'theme' rooms. If you like it, let me know what you think, If you don't like it, and have suggestions let me know as well! Thanks. Enjoy the deathmatch! Blkue skies! Josh a.k.a. In other words, I wanted it to look neat. There are lots of little nooks and crannies scattered about, and (I hope) a few sur- prises. I really hadn't intended the level to be so big (128K) when I first started; but, you know, one thing led to another and I just didn't know when to stop. Please let me know what you think by E-Mail on CIS. Enjoy. Instructions : Put DANTES.WAD and DANTES.BAT in your DOOM directory, then run the batch file. Hit New Game, Knee Deep, and choose whatever skill you wish. (For a kinder, gentler introduction that takes you right to it, run the KIND.BAT. This skips the intro stuff, chooses "Hey, Not Too Rough" skill, and jumps right into the level. Modify the batch file -skill # as you please.) Usage: Doom -file dminator.wad By: Flash (Rob Ganshorn) For use with REGISTERED DOOM (c) ID Software. (Will not work with the shareware version) Well here they are, the DOOMINATOR levels. These levels are designed *ESPECIALLY* for 2 player co-ops, though if you want to play deathmatch you might not have time to hunt your friend down! Deathmatch locations have not been checked out thouroughly because my friend and I haven't bothered with that mode. The purpose again for these levels was 2 player co-op although if you play by yourself there is nothing you cannot do. It would be just alot tougher. For normal play use the ultra violence setting. See notes about level 2 for a special consideration effected by violence setting (this was a late change). A few notes on some of the levels and the mechanics of play Level 1: Be careful and don't waste ammo by picking it up and then dying! Take it slow! Run out into the pit and grab the invun shpere ASAP because you will need it! I added a new exit to make getting out easier. You can warp back! Find it! Level 2: There are a boatload of pink demons outside. Maybe I got carried away with the "insert" key (grin), but chainsaw most of them if you can. There won't be enough ammo to do it any other way. Update. I added more ammo so you won't need to chainsaw all of them, just some of them. What was that episode name????? I think this part may play too slow on some machines because of the sheer number of pink demons. It's accepatble on a 486-50 but not everyone has a machine this fast. If it is too slow then play this game on anything lower than Ultra Violence mode. I have set it to cut the number of pink demons roughly in half. This is the ONLY affect changing the skill level will have on these levels. Level 3: Don't die in the area across from the left door at the beginning of the game. You need to get into there to be able to gain later access to the secret level. If you die in there, you can't return because your path is blocked. You can still finish the level, but you can no longer gain access to the secret level. Use your CELL ammo sparingly on this level. If you do make it into the area to go to the secret level, get the invun FAST! Also, watch for the blackout trap hidden somewhere. It will blackout the entire level! (It's very small and really won't get in the way). I put this in by accident, but thought it was neat enough to leave in. If you don't specify a sector tag for a blackout linedef, it just so happens it blacks out almost the entire level.. Where's that F11 key???????? Secret: Lotsa guys, lotsa health and ammo and watch the rocket dude on the center moving platform. Don't head out until the lift goes down. Even then run as fast as you can to the next room. Level 8: What happened to levels 4-7? Well, if you do ok on 1-3 plus the secret level you should do ok on these. A few different suprises may catch you off guard. Anyhow level 8 is a blast-fest. You really aren't meant to survive it easily, if at all. What my friend and I do is kill all the barons in the first room (stay at the top and save the invun for when you need it). Kill all the barons in the second area then it usually breaks down into a deathmatch after that. If you want to finish it, concentrate on killing the rocket dude on top of the platform. A few BFG hits and he is toast! However it is lotsa fun playing this level deathmatch after 8 levels of co-op. There is nothing like getting even for the times your partner accidently shot you! (yeah right, I think they do it on purpose sometimes :-). We usually are able to play up to the rocket dudes without dying. After that you either bfg the top guy and finish or do a little deathmatch! Well that's about it. NO BFG except on the last level. In my opinion the BFG makes things too easy especially when there is lotsa cell and rockets around. Save ammo on levels until you need it. If you die with a full load, then you just wasted that ammo.... Once you play the levels and get to know them, you'll be able to have an easier time at it. There are a few areas where textures might not line up great or multiple switches appear on a tall/wide wall. This is because there is no easy way for aligning textures in the map editors (yet) and that the switch textures are only so big. They all repeat to cover large areas so hence in about 1 or 2 spots throughout the levels you'll see multiple switches on a wall - a minor problem. All levels have been tested so that you can't get hoplessly stuck in one. You can miss the secret level if you die at the wrong time on level 3, so take it easy! I left it this way because it's an extra challenge now to get there. Have a blast! Rob Well, here it is: 9 completely new Doom levels all play tested and ready to go. I have fixed the problem with multi-player games. They are all set up for different difficulty levelsand multi-player games. I suggest doing them all in order without using any cheat codes. To play: Type DMSFG (I made a batch file for you) They take over "Knee Deep in the Dead" (so pick that) Then choose Ultra Violence (or whatever.....wimp!) Things to think about: 1) Most enemies fight each other! (Imperative for level 1) 2) You can't get everything you see. 3) You can't kill 100% of the bad guys on some levels. 4) Don't use cheat codes! 5) Don't spend all your time looking for secrets. There aren't very many and they are mostly in obvious places. 6) Try to get through without the temptation of cheat codes. 7) You can kick major demon but on every difficulty level without using any cheat codes. 8) Save the game a lot on level 8! Special thanks to: Raphal Quinet and Brendon Wyber (For giving us DEU 5.0) Rich Dersheimer "Blackfist" (For his Beginners Guides to DEU) John Kilgore (For "reluctantly" play testing all the levels)......10-15 times. Ben Jordan "ME" (For spending about 100 hours of his time to give you a complete set of levels) So go kick some major demon butt for me. And hey! I spent a lot of time creating these levels for you so the least you could do is drop me a note with any questions, comments and suggestions. (I hardly get any mail) CSERVE address 71564,2234 And by the way.... I claim no responsability to whatever may happen to your computer or your brain while playing this game. Good Luck! P.S. Description : Deathmatch Prison is based on the simple idea that a deathmatch should involve players using one weapon of their choice, chosen before entering the battle area. All doors in the prison area stay opened when pushed until closed using one of the switches in the control room. The control block in the control room contains one switch for each cell door. The west row of switches controls cell doors for the southern cell block and the eastern row controls the northern cell block. I decided not to put an exit switch, although there IS an exit. It is located outside the prison, in the nitch to the left of the door. All far walls in the nitch will end the game when pushed. Build Time : 8 hours. Editor(s) used : DEU 5.0 and BSP 1.0 Known Bugs : DOOM seems to have a small problem with the small green switch tile. If you push any of the close cell switches on the control block twice in a row without waiting for them to reset, the lighting scheme will reverse, meaning instead of having the button light up when pushed then turn dark a few seconds later, it will turn dark then light up a few seconds later. As far as I know the cell doors will still operate normally if this happens, but it's pretty annoying. It is intended for single player or 2 person cooperative mode only. THERE ARE NO DEATHMATCH STARTS AND THERE ARE ONLY 2 PLAYER STARTS! I apologize to you deathmatch degenerates, but this is my first level and I designed it with single play in mind. My next effort will be deathmatch compatible. You're welcome to edit it for deathmatch but there are some oneway sections which may cause problems. It's small but pretty tough in UV. Takes me about 10 minutes to complete. The only changes I had to make were to the mission #s and a few of the exits have been altered to make a complete 9 mission episode. I've looked at over 41 wads and only kept the very best. I have not explored these missions, but I have made sure that all can be finished without cheating. My criterion was simple... I wanted a mission that was as good as anything ID published. My emphasis here was for multiple player co-op games. These levels are very tough. I think Deathmatch would be really good for most as well. I've tried not to include any of the grossly popular pwads. If you don't like the midi music I've chosen... tough. I enjoy the classical sounds whilst slaughtering the beasts of hell. I think Id alternated 99 and 999 simply so the could have both rising stairs and smooth pulsing sectors, the only reason for two different oddball #'s. You will have a variety of weapons to choose from but you will have to use your resources wisely. I tried to construct this level so that it can be completed if you use your head as well as your trigger finger. Running around blasting wildly at anything that moves may get you to the end of the level, but it may leave you a little short- handed to deal with what might be lurking there. I hope you enjoy this level. It took me a long time to finish it (I am constantly refining and touching up). Heaven is simply a large stockpile of weapons, armor, and health bonuses (Apparently the NRA was right). There are also a few of Hell's more putrid denizens placed in cages for your safety and viewing pleasure, so take the opportunity to waste them. Every type of weapon is available in Heaven except for the BFG (is there one? Go to Hell to find out). Hell is a fairly linear place. In Single Player Mode if you die in Hell you are dead and thats that, but for Multi-Player mode, measures have been taken to ensure that any players that die can re-enter Hell safely many times over. This level isn't meant to be tricky or witty, it is purely kill kill kill kill kill kill jump kill..... * Play Information * ============================================================================ Episode and Level # : E1M1 (Uses textures not in Shareware Version) Single Player : Yes Cooperative 2-4 Player : Yes Deathmatch 2-4 Player : Yes Difficulty Settings : Yes (Anything below "Ultra-Violence" has about half the monsters and no Boss Monsters.) Editor(s) used : DEU 5.0 and BSP 1.0 Known Bugs : None, at least not fatal ones. It is a very large level, and probably shouldn't be attempted on some slower systems. "Disappearing Things" effects used to occur on this level, until I found out that DOOM really doesn't like too many objects (I had at one point over 900 things, and that was cut in half), but it may still occur occasionally. Also in the corridor with the large skull key doors the game seems to like to inflict damage on you even if you have a radsuit and there aren't any monsters around. This is not a result of paper thin walls, and seems to happen randomly, but it does happen quite often in that particular area. If anyone knows what causes this to happen even when walls are two linedefs thick, please let me know. * Copyright / Permissions * ============================================================================ Authors may use this level as a base to build additional levels. If you can get by it, wait until you are properly armed. Sometimes running away is the best tactic. -Recon by fire is an effective tactic in dark passages, if you have the ammo. -Wall textures are important. -Going for the goods immediately isn't always a good idea. Always clear your escape route, and try and remember where it is. -Whenever possible, give the monsters a "crushing headache." -ALWAYS expect surprises, even in "cleared" areas. -Try a different route next time. -Use the exit door in the beginning! ================================================================ Title : KAT.WAD Author : David & Kathy Bruni Email Address : 74353,357 Misc. There are four main sections of the Lost Level, and to provide assistance for the eternally tormented, I have included a major hint for each section. See if you can finish the level without cheating, using these hints. Section 1: Marble Hexagon Room: Your player starts in this room, but don't stick around long. This room connects the other three major sections. Move quickly to the next section and deal with this room later. Section 2: Warehouse: Not too difficult, but watch your back, and don't miss the secret. Section 3: Swamp Complex: A twisted, confusing area... you must hit 6 important switches here to acquire the red key. Section 4: Showdown: This room is not as hard as it looks, just get the creatures there mad at each other, then hide somewhere and watch the fight. Finally, save often and horde your major firepower for the Showdown. The Lost Level was also playtested in Cooperative and Deathmatch mode, the latter making for one HELL of a manhunt. Have fun with a WAD that took many hours to complete. To run the Lost Level, type the following in your doom directory: doom -file lostlevl.wad -episode 2 -skill x where x is the difficulty level you wish to play at (1-5). Or you could run the batch file LL.BAT, included in this archive. PS: Difficulty levels Medium and Hard have quite a different ending, try one before the other for maximum effect. ;) PPS: Special thanks to the Creators of DEU and BSP, thier free time and effort was sacrificed to make an already great game even better. The 'MAZE' is simple but provides the best arena for DEATHMATCH play. Uploaded by myself, Tyrone. The level is built using DEU 5.1(naturally) and BSP for the finishing touches. You may do anything you wish to the level according to your 'taste'! As promised, the zip file also contains a re-release of my first wad megawatt.wad. This new version of megawatt has the bugs fixed and now has difficulty levels implemented. For those easily offened by satanic overtones, neither level uses any satanic textures. Megawatt replaces level one of episode one and Megalab replaces level two of episode one. Both levels contain multi-player and deathmatch starting points, and skill level options. To load the levels enter: Doom -file megawatt.wad megalab.wad (Make sure both wads are in the Doom directory) Megawatt was built with the Deu 4 beta editor, and Megalab was completed with Deu 4 beta, then the new Deu 5, and nodes built with BSP v1.1 beta. I can almost garuntee there will be no clipping. I must give credit to the new Deu 5 for its auto texture align feature as Megalab would not have been released this soon. For those who enjoyed Megawatt, my new Megalab level should be equally enjoyable if not more. Neither level abuses the player by adding too many monsters so you should find both reasonable to play. I hope you enjoy and would appreciate any feedback at the above internet e-mail address. I will graduate after the 6th so my e-mail address will no longer be valid, so don't bother sending me mail after that date. Mike- NEW LEVELS FOR DOOM This is an entirely new episode for Doom, made up of 8 levels created by people who love to play Doom but were getting a little tired of the levels included with the game. These are not necessarily the best new levels out there (and there are a LOT of very good ones available right now, with an average of 2 or 3 good ones being released every day), but a few of the ones I enjoy playing. I'll try to release a new episode about every month if time allows, so I hope that you won't get bored with Doom and stop playing it.... there's a LOT of new adventures on the way. These are the names of the new levels, and the author's name, if I could find it: Level Level Author Number Name (if available) -------------------------------------- 1 TN-Cross2 Tom Neff 2 The Keep Norman Scott 3 Zone 13 Wayne Conner 4 Outpost 21 Scott Amspoker 5 Octagon *Unknown (but a GREAT level!) 6 Lewis21F Lewis Beard 7 Courtyard Michael Kelsey 8 Megalab Casey Miller Loading Instructions: To play this episode, just run the batch file NEWLEV.BAT. This will load the new data into Doom and start the game. When the notice comes up that says something like "ATTENTION: This version of DOOM has been modified. If you would like to get a copy of the original game blah blah blah press enter to continue," just hit Enter. Choose New Game and then select Episode 1 - Knee Deep in the Dead. The new episode will temporarily replace the data of the standard episode 1. **NOTE: This will NOT replace episode 1 permanently! The next time you load Doom the normal way (DOOM.EXE), everything will be exactly as it was before. To play this new episode, you must run the batch file NEWLEV.BAT or type in DOOM -FILE NEWLEV.WAD to load the new data. You can save games while playing these new levels, but you will have to load the new episode whenever you want to resume them, they will not work correctly with the standard Doom levels. Hints: Most of these levels were created by advanced players, for advanced players. This means that on the harder skill levels (Hurt Me Plenty and Ultraviolence) they will be difficult. And there will be quite a few secrets in these levels. Look for things that are out of the ordinary, such as parts of a wall that are different colors than the rest, listen for sounds, like opening doors or lifts going up or down; many times these secrets will not be obvious, so try everything you can think of. And if all else fails, don't be afraid to use the cheat codes. It's having fun you're worried about, not whether or not you could finish a level without cheating. Now go get 'em! You start out on another floor with access via elevator. I may add more to the starting floor later, but this is a complete level, with blue, yellow, and red access doors, a secret area, and an exit. The guys around the office have been waiting to play this level in deathmatch, but I haven't tried it yet. Most of the monsters teleport into the elevators from a "monster farm" I created in an area you cannot get to. On ultimate or nightmare level this is quite a difficult level. You have barons at key locations, plus an extra abundance of other bad guys teleporting into the elevators and roaming around the building. The music I included was mixed entirely on a Sound Blaster Pro, so anyone who can get DOOM to work with General Midi let me know how it sounds. I tend to be a little heavy on the kick drum and bass, so thought I would warn you ahead of time. Two of the pieces were written with DOOM or at least a DOOM style game. The other one is for comedy relief since it doesn't fit the mood of the game at all. ================================================================ Title : Overlord.WAD Author : Todd Smith Email Address : Misc. On the surface, Outpost 21 appears to be a peaceful complex that provides its small team of dedicated scientists with living quarters, research labs, and recreational facilities. However, not even the aliens who recently inhabited Outpost 21 were aware of the dark and dirty secrets that lie beneath . Additional Comments : As with any Doom level, please play this level in a dimly lit or dark room. I strongly urge that you not use gamma correction unless you really have an unusually dark monitor. Gamma correction tends to put a "wash" on the otherwise deep Doom colors and I have chosen the light levels carefully. Some parts of this level are dimly lit. This is not to disorient the player or pull a cheap shot in the dark. It is to create the proper mood and to exploit certain Doom textures that would look unconvincing in brighter light (and with gamma correction). There are many sniper towers, teleports, weapons, and places to explore. I have play tested this with some friends and found it to be great. I hope you think the same! Includes the chainsaw lover's best dream! Simple, short, but great fun. Very different. If you are looking for an intricate, mind boggling level, this is NOT one of them (but you can try it anyway). On the other hand, if you like to have LOADS of FUN, please try this out! *Play Info* ULTIM.WAD works with: Episode 1, Level 1 Single Player Cooperative Deathmatch (most fun) Difficulty settings: I know that some people think that the BFG9000 is unfair in Deathmatch mode, so I have made it VIRTUALLY impossible to obtain in "Ultra- Violence." If you DO like the BFG9000, play on an easier level. There are very small changes between the first few difficulty settings. *Construction* I built this level from scratch using the DEU editor 5.0 (and later, 5.1) and BSP Node Fixer-Upper (both which I obtained from Compuserve). It took me a few weeks to construct (balancing schoolwork and sports), and the only "bugs" I know of are a few minor texture offset problems. Otherwise, it should work fine. *Copyright Stuff* Authors MAY use this level as a base to build additional levels. You MAY distribute this WAD provided you include this file, with no modifications. You may distribute this file in any electronic format (BBS, Diskette, CD, etc.) as long as you include this file intact. PLEASE: If you are going to edit this level or distribute it, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, give me credit. I worked for many hours (too many to count) trying to make this level as fun as I possibly could.Well, after many hours of learning how to run the deu5.0 editor, this is the level that I came up with. This is the first level of the first mission. To load up the level just type 'doom -file upliftng.wad' and choose 'Knee deep in the dead'(and the appropriate skill level). There are about 40+ hours into making this level so if someone does change this level any, I would at least like some credit shown. This level was made using the patched 1.2 version of the registered game and was also run through the bsp node builder, ver. 1.0. The level is geared for more for a multiplayer mode that just one player. However, this level is playable for just one player. Deathmatch mode is supported. Skill levels do change. Tips: Watch out for the green river....20% health loss. It may bog down on slower computers when the ceilings are raised to allow the ability to exit the level. Be patient. Many of the same ideas are used, so don't be suprised. I did this on a 386dx-40(scary, isn't it!) and this is the second level that I have created. The first level I made is not quite done yet but it was also more of a deathmatch level. I may get it on internet someday. DEU v5 still has problems compiling the wad, which BSP v1 for the most part cleans up. The only problem with this wad I haven't been able to correct, is that you'll see a "flash" of the ceiling texture in a couple of spots. It's somewhat random and very brief, so it doesn't effect game play, it's more of an annoyance.
