The Honorable Reed Hundt 1919 M Street, NW Federal Communications Commission Washington, D.C. 20554 or via E-mail: fccisdn@policy.net Dear Chairman Hundt, As an ISDN line subscriber, I am writing to support Pacific Bell's petition to waive the requirement that raises the number of subscriber line charges for ISDN, and I strongly encourage the Federal Communications Commission to act favorably on Pacific Bell's petition. This order, which will result in rate hikes of up to 50 percent in California, will only stifle the rapid growth and acceptance of this powerful technology by making it prohibitively expensive. Today, ISDN provides quick, affordable access to the Internet, enabling schools, libraries, non-profit organizations, government facilities, small businesses and researchers nationwide to tap into vast on-line resources and information. In addition, ISDN is a major force in the burgeoning telecommuting movement, which heightens corporate productivity while protecting our environment. (Insert statement on how the order will affect you and your family here.) I urge the FCC to reconsider its ruling. After all, technology must be accessible to all Americans -- not just the technologically elite. Sincerely, February 23, 1995 MEMORANDUM TO: JOHN GUELDNER LISA LANG BETH LITTLE MIKE SAPIEN NANCY WOOLF FROM: MARY HANCOCK SUBJECT: SAMPLE CUSTOMER LETTER Following for your review and approval is a draft sample customer letter on the FCC ISDN issue. This letter will be given to the ISDN sales force for distribution to customers who want to express their concern to the FCC. Your input on who the letters should be addressed to would be very helpful, too. Please call me with your comments by the end of day Friday, 2/24. cc: D. Bailey T. Dodge
