BETA
SOFTWARE
Before you download any beta software, here are a few important things to know:
- The software is subject to the terms and conditions detailed in the license agreement that accompanies the software.
- One of the main reasons we put out beta software is for testing purposes. Beta means that the product is still under development and can contain bugs. We welcome your feedback on the product, but please be advised that we do not provide support on beta software.
- The software has a time-out feature so that it expires after a certain period of time. The purpose of the time-out is to ensure that you remember to come back and get the latest software release. The license agreement and read-me file will state the specific date on which the software will expire. We have also added a two-week expiration notification feature: Two weeks prior to the expiration date, a dialog box will appear, reminding you when your software will expire. Please note that the final, shipping version of the product will not have a time-out feature.
- Please be sure to follow the installation instructions in the read-me file that accompanies the beta software.
- To find out about the latest known bugs in this beta software, pull down the Help menu and select Release Notes. The Help menu also has information on how to provide feedback.
- Depending on Net-site traffic, you could experience delays when trying to download the beta software. The amount of time it takes you to download one version of the beta software depends on the speed of your connection to the Internet. On a 28.8Kbps modem, it could take at least 15 minutes.
- If you administer the network at a college or university, you can find out about becoming a Netscape Navigator mirror site.
