CALL FOR PAPER AND PARTICIPATION REGIONAL SEMINAR ON TELETRAFFIC ENGINEERING FOR THE AFRICA REGION TO BE HELD 1 TO 5 SEPTEMBER 1997 IN BAMAKO (MALI)

The Seminar is initiated by the International Teletraffic Congress (ITC) and will take place in Bamako, Mali, country known for its legendary hospitality, and at the kind invitation by the telecommunication organisation, Societe des Telecommunications du Mali (SO.TEL.MA). The Seminar is also sponsored by the Pan African Telecommunication Union (PATU) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has been invited. The working languages at the Seminar are English and French, with simultaneous interpretation.

Subjects to be discussed in the Seminar:

1. Improve and increase the traffic carrying capacity of existing networks
2. Planning and introduction of new technologies and new services and applications
3. Provide information on teletraffic engineering courses at training centres in Africa and world-wide
4. Measurement and analysis of traffic pattern for different user categories, in urban and rural areas
5. Traffic and network management
6. Traffic characteristics of new services: INTERNET, LEO, VSAT, Cellular, etc.
7. Use of socio-economic and other data to improve demand forecasting methods

Round Table: Exchange of experiences and visions (Recommendations and Proposals)

Important dates to remember:

• 1 December 1996: Start send invitations to participate and contribute to the Seminar by SO.TEL.MA.
• 28 February 1997: Time limit to receive replies to the invitations and announcement of co- sponsoring
• 15 March 1997: Confirmation by the Technical Committee that proposed papers are in conformity with the seminar subjects
• 30 April 1997: Submission of full paper in hard copy and, if possible, on diskette
• 1 May - 30 June 1997: Study of contributions by the Committees, and communication of observations , if required, to the authors
• 31 July 1997: Editing and printing
• 1 - 5 September 1997: Organisation of the Seminar
