DEATH

Relatives and friends gather at the deceased's house for mutual comfort and recitation of the Qur'an. The body is prepared by a member of the same sex. It is washed and wrapped in clean white sheets, often with a green cloth containing Qur'anic verses upon it. It is laid in a coffin and taken to the burial place where prayers are offered. The body should be laid on its side and buried in such a way as to be facing Mecca.
