Shi'ite	One of the main factions within Islam. Shi'ites believe that the spiritual leader of Islam can only be descended from the prophet via his son-in-law, Ali, assassinated in 661CE. Also spelt "Shiah". Also known as Shi'at Ali, meaning "Party of Ali".
