FLIGHT SIMULATOR III MODES This group of MODES are for use with the Flight Simulator III program issued by MicroSoft. They include simulations from the default scenery as well as most of the available scenery disks from SubLogic. Most MODES are arranged for departure from major airports found in the appropriate scenery. The DOS name for each MODE is prefaced with the Scenery Disk number (i.e. 2-PHX08L is found on Scenery Disk 2), followed by the airport 3-letter identifier and runway. (The above example is Scenery Disk 2, Phoenix (PHX) Sky Harbor Airport, Runway 08 Left (08L)) Window #1 is set for the front view from the cockpit with the 4- dot visual indicator for approaches. By hitting "S" you are transported to the Tower view. Window #2 defaults to the spot plane located 50 feet behind your tail. Window #3 is the Map display. All three windows are set for full 1/2 screen display above the cockpit instruments. I have disabled the sound, crash detect and auto-coupled rudder and ailerons. This is my preference, though you can modify the MODES to your own delight. Some of the non-departure MODES include: 7-SHUTAP Scenery Disk 7- Final approach to the Cape Canaveral Shuttle Landing Pad. M-LAXAPP Main Scenery- A 50 mile straight in approach to LAX from about 12,500 feet over Ontario. M-LAX5DM Main Scenery- A 5 mile DME approach to Runway 25L at LAX. I set all three of these MODES using the Lear 25. If you want to use the Cessna, enter the mode, use the SKEW mode to back up a bit, exit SKEW and let the Cessna stabilize before saving the MODE with your new settings. Hope you enjoy the Flight Simulator III MODES. Bob Dennin
