Operation Slider

The P38 was pressed into the ground attack
role in the last few years of the war. It
was occassionally called on to perform
small bombing attacks on select targets in
enemy territory.

                Mission Orders

You and your wingman will be escorting a 
small group of P-38Hs loaded with long 
range tanks and two 1000 lb. bombs. Their
intended target it the Gottingen Research
Site. You and your wingman will also be
flying P-38H models as their escort.

The mission has been scheduled for late in
the day to assist your chances of getting
through. However this may also work against
you and make spotting marauding enemy 
fighters harder to spot.

Enemy tactics have changed recently. Enemy
interception techniques now involve ignoring
the primary target, which is the bomber 
group, and for them to go after the fighter
escort first. This is especially true if the
escort happens to be the easily spotted 
P-38.

Be on your toes and prepare to defend 
yourself from enemy fighters and don't get
too far away from the bomber group or they
may be chopped to pieces.
