How do I cross the lava pit?

Hint 1 of 4:

Sometimes when you step on a stone, one nearby happens to disintegrate.

Hint 2 of 4:

There is a pattern.  Watch where you were, where you are, and where the
hole is formed (if there is one).

Hint 3 of 4:

The three stones are in line.  So the stone in your current direction will
always be missing.

Hint 4 of 4:

Try to walk so that you are heading towards one of the holes (so that you
don't create any more holes).  It also helps to find a wide area with several
stones on the path so you can lose some and still cross.
