Over a year ago, I happened to be strolling through an upscale art store
in our local mall when I saw a magazine on the counter next to the POS
terminal. It was a not a glossy sales tool, packed with beautiful
reproductions of artwork that was for sale, but rather a cheap
newspaper-print type of publication that you might find in the middle of
the Sunday paper. What caught my eye was an article on WWII aircraft
art. I'm a big-time warbird buff, and these full-color pictures were
just beautiful.

Having just installed a Hewlett-Packard ScanJet Plus at work, I knew
that I just had to have that magazine. I begged a copy, one of three
that the store had, from the owner. He thought that I was going to buy
something, but I had other ideas in mind.

I scanned the prints that evening, but sizing, cropping, contrast and
brightness adjustment, etc. had to wait until time was available. Well,
I've been out of work since May '93 now, so time is one commodity that I
have plenty of.

Let me take a moment here to urge any and all of you that can afford it
to buy one of these beautiful prints from the artists. If not for them,
none of this would be possible.

I'm sorry that the scans aren't in color; a hardware limitation I'm
afraid. I still have the pages from the magazine that I scanned from, so
if someone wants to take my work one step further, then by all means
contact me.
