TITLE: Lines Between Columns Do Not Print PRODUCT: Ami Pro 2.0 DATE: 22-Nov-1991 PROBLEM: The lines between columns specified in a file's page layout do not print. SOLUTION: Currently the lines between columns in a multi-column page layout do not print using the HP LaserJet and HP LaserJet III drivers if the Ami Pro print in background option is disabled or if the document's top margin is less than .25 inch. Enabling the background printing function in Ami Pro and increasing the document's top margin to .25 or greater will allow the lines between columns to print. HOW TO ENABLE AMI PRO'S PRINT IN BACKGROUND OPTION 1. Load Ami Pro. 2. Choose Tools / User Setup. 3. Choose Options. 4. Put an X in the Print in background Speed option. 5. Choose OK. 6. Choose OK. 7. Reprint the multi-column file with lines between the columns. HOW TO CHANGE THE DOCUMENT'S TOP MARGIN 1. In Ami Pro open the document. 2. Choose Page / Modify Page Layout. 3. For Top Margin, specify a number that is .25 or more. 4. Choose OK. 5. Choose Edit / Go to. 6. Choose Layout Change in the list box for Next Item. 7. Choose Go To ^H. 8. If the message "Go To could not find a match for that item" appears, there are no other inserted page layouts to change. If the insertion point moves to a location in the document, there is an inserted page layout at this location. In this case, repeat Steps 2-7 until all inserted page layouts have been modified to have a top margin of at least .25 inch. Modified Ami Pro program files are available which will more permanently correct this problem. Call the Lotus WPD Customer Service Department at 404- 256-2272 and request the modified Ami Pro files that correctly print column lines. With the modified program files, it will not be necessary to enable Ami Pro's background printing option in order to print column lines.
