TITLE: "System Error: File Sharing Error" Appears Installing ATM PRODUCT: Ami Pro 2.0 DATE: 11-Oct-1991 PROBLEM: During the installation of Adobe Type Manager that is supplied with Ami Pro, the message "System Error: File Sharing Error" or "Sharing Violation" appears and the ATM installation cannot proceed. SOLUTION: Information from Adobe Systems, Inc., (1585 Charleston Road, P.O. Box 7900, Mountain View, CA 94039-7900, 415-961-4992, 800-833-6687) is that when DOS 4.X is being used and DOS Share is enabled, sharing violation messages will be produced when Adobe Type Manager (ATM) is being installed over a version of ATM that is currently active. Turning ATM off before installing it again will allow the installation to complete: HOW TO TURN OFF THE CURRENT ATM AND REINSTALL ATM 1. In Windows run the ATM Control Panel (there is usually an icon for ATM in one of the Windows Program Groups). 2. Choose OFF for ATM. 3. Choose EXIT. 4. Exit Windows completely to the DOS prompt. 5. Load Windows. If a PostScript printer is being used, make it the default Windows printer in the Control Panel. 6. Reinstall ATM: a. Insert the ATM disk in a floppy drive. b. At the Windows Program Manager choose File / Run. c. For Command Line type X:\INSTALL (where X is the letter of the drive containing the ATM program disk). d. Choose OK.
