Last Minute Information

What's on the CD-Rom? | Links To Relevant Sites

Congratulations on your purchase of Creating Shockwave Web Pages, we're sure you'll find it helpful as we worked hard to try to keep it up-to-date while we were writing it (an almost impossible task!). As part of that effort, there is some additional information on streaming audio over the internet that wasn't available during the writing of this book. Unfortunately, we were not able to get RealAudio's permission to include some of the web pages from their site before this disc was finalized. However, that information is displayed, as it would have appeared here, at the following address: http://www.pdgroup.com/book/readme.htm.

Take a serious look at the information there when deciding which technology will best fulfill your streaming audio needs. As of version 3 of the RealAudio software, everything is free. Which means you do not have to purchase Director or Sound Forge.

What's on the CD-Rom?

We included all the Director files used in the examples- in the *.DIR format. This means that you can take them apart and see how they work. Follow this link to check'em out (requires the Shockwave Plug-in).

If you don't have the Shockwave Plug-in it's here on the CD-Rom also! All the plugin stuff and Afterburner stuff is in the "Shockwave" folder.

All the examples are on the CD by chapter.

Also, their is a Que book called "Special Edition Using HTML, 2nd Edition" that is here in HTML form. It is an excellent source of information on how the whole Internet business got started and how to use HTML.

Get ready to get pumped up! The following Macromedia products are here in "demo" form:
(to install them, navigate to the "macromed" folder on the CD, locate the appropriate folder [the folder name will appear in parenthesis next to the product below] then run the "setup.exe" file)
