GuardBank Growth Fund

Introduction

(Back to Contents...)

GuardBanks oldest and largest, the Growth Fund is a general equity fund. Investments are carefully selected mainly from the full range of blue-chip shares quoted in all sectors of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. These range from mining to manufacturing; from banks and insurance companies to wholesalers and retailers, to mention just a few.

Investment strategy will always aim to achieve a balance between growth, income and stability.

The fund has achieved these objectives since 1970 and invariably ranks amongst the top performing unit trusts. Over 197 000 people currently hold accounts in the Growth Fund. It is one of South Africas oldest and most successful unit trust funds. The price of one unit has grown from R1 to over R42 since its introduction and approximately R11 has been paid out as income. R100 per month invested for 25 years was valued at R1 272 813 on 31 December 1995 (with income reinvested)! The fund has always beaten inflation by a wide margin.

Income is declared half-yearly - at the end of June and at the end of December.
