In the year of 1992, the Ministry of Education issued Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi Banfa (Chinese Language Level Test Method of China) to promote Chinese language level test home and abroad. HSK is a standard test for testing the Chinese level of non-Chinese speaker (including foreigners, overseas Chinese and minorities in China). It was divided into primary level, secondary level, and advanced level HSK. It was held regularly in China and overseas. Whoever passes the examination will get a corresponding certificate named Hayu Shuiping Zhengshu.
