These are the patterns I was able to find that look like X's:) Half Double crochet cluster II 1st row: skip 2ch (count as 1hdc), hdc2tog inserting hook into each of next 2ch, *hdc2tog inserting hook first into same ch as previous cluster then into next ch; rep from * until 1ch remains, hdc into last ch, turn. 2nd row: 2ch (count as 1hdc), hdc2tog inserting hook first into first st then into next st, *hdc2tog inserting hook first into same st as previous cluster then into next st; rep from * ending 1hdc into top of tch, turn. Repeat 2nd row. Rnd 2: Ch 6 (counts as 1 dc, ch 3), skip first 2 sc, * 1 dc in next sc, ch 3, skip next sc; repeat from * around - 8 ch-3 loops, join with sl st in third ch of starting ch-3. Rnd 3: Ch 8 (counts as 1 dc, ch 5), * work 1 dc in next dc, ch 5; repeat from * around, join with sl st to third ch of starting ch-8. Rnd 4: Ch 5 to form first corner loop, * work 7 sc in each of next 2 ch-5 loops, ch 5; repeat from * 3 times more omitting ch-5 at end of last repeat. Rnd 5: * Work 7 sc in corner loop, ch 4, work 1 sc between last sc of next 7-sc group and first sc of following 7-sc group, ch 4; repeat from * around, join with 1 sl st to first sc. Rnd 6: * Work 1 sc in each of 7 corner sc, ch 4, 1 sc in next sc of previous row, ch 4; repeat from * around, join with sl st in first sc. Rnd 7: Ch 3, (ch 3, 1 sc in third ch from hook - picot made), * (1 dc in next sc, picot) twice, (1 dc, picot, 1 dc) in next sc, (picot, 1 dc in next sc) 3 times, ch 3, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next sc, ch 3, 1 dc in next sc, picot; repeat from * around, end with 1 sl st in third ch of starting ch-3 after last ch-3 loop has been worked. Fasten off. Make as many squares as needed for your afghan. Finishing: Squares can be joined by sewing together at picot points. Or, when working last round of square, join to adjacent square at picot points by working ch 1, drop loop, insert hook from front to back in corresponding picot on adjacent square, pick up dropped loop and pull through, ch 1, work 1 sc in first ch to complete joining picot. Join in a seven square by eight square arrangement.
