SiteBuilder X v2.0

Last Minute Information

Version 2.0 updates support files. An Open from web command has also been added to the File menu. You can open a web page directly into SiteBuilder X.

Introduction

SiteBuilder X is a HTML authoring tool designed for Rapid Site Development. The program was designed to give web authors an environment where they can quickly edit and create web pages, while maintaining a site oriented approach to HTML. Featuring a built in Windows Explorer™ window, SiteX makes inserting links, images, scripts, audio and video as easy as Drag and Drop.

Although some HTML authoring tools are included, the programs main focus is site development. This program does not assume your an idiot. You would be best to have some knowledge of the HTM-Language. If you are just starting out with HTML then I suggest downloading Microsofts HTML Authors Reference(links), a great help file no HTMLer should be without. Once you learn basic syntax Tag Popups will show tag reference as you type. So you'll never have to leave the HTML editor to go looking for the help file.

If you installed the sample application during setup you'll notice that 5 JavaScripts, some basic HTML, and a Style Sheet was added to your system. You can use any of the source within these documents as long as you do it with SiteBuilder X. Below is a list of sample HTML pages installed.

    Creative Marquee's
A small example of how you can breath life into microsoft's marquee, instead of just scrolling from one end to the other.
    Site Navigator
Ever wanted a combo-box site navigator, without CGI. This sample shows how you can easily create one with JavaScript.
    Cookies
Add customization to your Web Site with cookies. It's simple to make a personal hit counter or store information using JavaScript.
    Style Sheets
Shows how you can take control of your Web Page with Style Sheets. (This page uses style sheets also)

    Links

Below you'll find a few vital links. I urge you not to delete this readme file, for the simple reason that if something goes wrong you can probably solve the problem by clicking one of the following links.

    The SiteBuilder X, Web Site
Download the latest version, contact Bending Light Productions and find some great links on the way.
    Visual Basic Support Files
If you don't already have the support files then you can't run SiteBuilder X. These files do not come with the program because most people already have them. The file is rather large(2MG) so it saves those who already have the files alot of time.
If you're having problems with SiteBuilder X, download and install these support files. This solves 90% of problems.
    SiteBuilder X
You can always download the latest version of this program from the link above. I suggest checking every 2 to 3 weeks, if you're interested in the program.
Download or View the Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 Author's Guide and HTML Reference
This help file, compiled by microsoft, is a blessing. It doesn't go into the ethics or How-To's of creating Web Pages, it simply gives a list of every TAG supported by Internet Explorer and each of it's paramaters. A must have for any serious HTMLer.
    Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0
I personally prefer IE to Netscape. I know I will lose customers just for saying that but, it's true. If you haven't checked out IE yet then at least give it a try. I was once a dedicated Netscape user, and it took me a while to adjust, but IE is quite a bit more powerful then Netscape(I never said faster).
