Can be played in singles, tournament or challenge modes. If you would like to set up your own rules, then do this through CUSTOM POOL which will allow you to configure the game to your exact preferences. Aim: The aim of the game is to pocket your ball group (reds or yellows) and then the black 8-Ball. UK 8 Ball offers you your very own UK Rules Pool League in your own home! Rules: (a) 1st player breaks. If a ball is pocketed then that is your group. If balls of both groups are pocketed, you may select the ball group you prefer. (b) If you do not pot a ball from the break the other player has a go, and so on until a ball is pocketed and groups are then determined. (c) If you manage to pot a ball, you get another go and continue to do so while you continue to pot balls. (d) Your turn ends if you fail to pot a ball or commit a foul. (e) Fouls are committed by; - Potting a white (also a foul from the break) - Hitting opponents balls before your own - Potting opponents balls without potting one of your own - Hitting the 8-Ball before hitting your own balls After a foul, the next player plays the cue-ball from the current position. This layer has a "free" shot and they can hit ANY ball with their next shot. Whether potted or not, that turn ends and they then continue with their normal turn. (f) A foul is commited at the break if at least two object balls fail to hit the cushions. In this case, the balls are re-racked and the player breaks again. (g) Winning To win you have to pocket all your ball group first and then the 8-Ball. You can also win by default if the other player pots the 8-Ball whilst they still have balls on the table. US 8-BALL RULES Set-Up Played on Blue Baize with the Spots/Striped Numbered Ballset. Can be played in singles, tournament or challenge modes. If you would like to set up your own rules, then do this through CUSTOM POOL which will allow you to configure the game to your exact preferences. Aim - as for UK 8 Ball Pool. US 8 Ball offers all the atmosphere of the hustlin` heydays! Rules - As for UK 8 Ball Pool, except... (e) Fouls After a foul, there is no FREE shot, but the other player make pick up and place the cue ball in any desired position. This is the same also for the cue-ball after it has been potted. Open Table Ruling: The table remains "Open" (ie. Any ball can be potted) until a single ball-type has been potted by a player and effectively chosen. If a player pots a ball from each group then the table remains open. CUSTOM 8 BALL POOL Set-up: Set up by default for a usual UK "Pub" game, although the rules are fully configurable, via the options-screen. Aim: Usual 8 Ball played to the following options... Custom Pool allows everyone to play their favourite style of 8 Ball! Potting Opponents Balls always fouls? (YES NO) - If set to yes and you pot an opponents ball regardless of whether you also potted one of your own balls, a foul results. Default is YES. Ball in Hand after Potting cue ball? (YES NO) - If set to YES and a player pots the cue-ball then the other player may position the ball anywhere where desired. If set to NO then the player must play the cue-ball from the break position. Default is NO. Re-Spot 8-Ball if potted illegally? (YES NO) - If set to yes then the 8-Ball is respotted if pocketed illegally. This removes the rule of accidentally pocketing the 8-Ball meaning on-the-spot defeat. Default is NO. No Free Shot If Only 8-Ball left to Pot? (YES NO) - If set to yes, Free shots do not count when there is just the 8 Ball left to pot. Default is NO. Free Shots until Miss ? (YES NO) - If yes, then the player who has been given a free shot, continues to play until they fail to pot a ball, whereby their normal go would commence. Commonly known as "2 Free Shots Rule" in some regions. Default is YES. Open Table Rule ? (YES NO) - If yes, then the table remains open until a player pots a single ball to determine their ball-group. Potting both ballgroups in one go leaves the table open. (YES NO) - If set to yes, then the player has a free shot prior to his next shot. Use this in conjunction with the Ball in Hand option. Default is YES. Which Ballset to Play ? As well as the above options, others are available which effect the run of the table and the skill involved with making shots. Consult the options screen for further details of these. SPEED POOL Set-Up: Ballset and colour as defined in the options screen. The run of the table and the aiming aid are always set by the rules to make sure that every game has an equal footing as the top scores can be saved to disk for posterity. Aim: Clear the table of balls as fast as possible. This can be in ANY ball order. If the white (cue) ball is potted, it must be placed at the break position. The clock stops when the last ball is potted. Speed Pool will test your reflexes and hand-eye co-ordination. Who will clock the fastest time? 9 BALL Set-Up: US Baize and US Ballset, Numbers 1-8 and Striped 9 Ball racked in a diamond. Aim: To win, you must pot the 9 Ball legally. 9 Ball is a fast paced game of high skill.. watch out for those cannons and kisses... 9 Ball is hugely popular.. enjoy a few rounds and find out why! Rules (a) You MUST hit the lowest number ball first, failure to do so is a FOUL! (b) You may pot other balls as long as you hit the lowest ball number first. (c) After legally potting a ball, you stay at the table. (d) After a foul, the opposing player may place the white (cue) ball anywhere on the table! (e) The game ends when the 9 ball is potted legally (ie. when it`s the last on the table, or if it`s potted after hitting the lowest ball number first). SURVIVOR (Killer) Set-Up: 8 Ball, with table set up as in the options-screen. Aim: The aim is to be the last player remaining. Survivor is often played as a gambling game, where each player pays an "entrance fee", which the winner takes. It`s not necessary, but does add a little "spice" to the game, especially when eight players are involved! Team17 do not condone gambling activities. Rules (a) Up to 8 players can play, taking one shot alternatively. (b) Each player has three "lives" (c) On a player's turn, they must pot any ball except the white (cue) ball. If they pot a ball, then they leave the table with their lives intact. (d) Should a player fail to pot a ball, or pot the white (cue) ball then they leave the table and lose a life. If all three lives are lost, then they are out of the game. (e) The cue-ball, if potted, can be placed anywhere by the next player. (f) When all balls have been potted and more than one player remains, the balls are re-racked and play continues. (g) Anyone breaking has an extra shot, unless they pot a ball from the break. (h) Play continues until all players except one are out... that player is the survivor (or killer) and they win the game. 9 BALL CHALLENGE Set-Up: This is a single player arcade game based on standard "9 Ball" and usual 9-Ball rules still apply. Points are awarded for your performance, judged on how many balls were potted sequentially in number order, how many shots it took you and how quickly you did it. Bonuses can be earned by potting balls in special pockets. You start with a number of lives which represent the number of shots available - you lose a life if you fail to pot a ball, you lose two if you pot the white (cue) ball. Three are lost if you hit the wrong ball! If you pocket a ball legally (ie you hit the lowest ball first) then no life is lost on that turn. Play continues, with the balls re-racking until you lose all your lives during play. The table is complete when the 9 ball is legally pocketed. On game over, you are given your score and ranking. If high, you can enter the hall of fame. 8/15 BALL Aim: Pot your group (2-8 or 9-15) then pot the yellow one (1), the first to do so is the winner. You must pocket the 8 or 15 (dependent on your ball group) in the SIDE pockets. Rules: The balls numbered 8 and 15 are special and have to be potted in the side pockets. Any foul on these balls will mean that the ball is respotted. After pocketing all balls of your group, you must nominate a pocket for the 1 (Yellow) ball. Breakup is valid when at least three balls hit the cushions Fouls: - hitting opponents balls first - potting the white ball - missing your ball-group or hitting the (1) ball first After a foul, the other player has a free ball (positioning is limited to the left rectangle) and any balls potted in the shot have to be respotted in the usual way...
