Each file represents a disk. You will need to unzip them and copy the files to three 3.5" High Density disks. The first disk contains a program called install. Run this to install PHOENICS V 1.4 onto your hard disk. If you are at Cranfield: You will need to run the World Wide Web on a Pegasus machine. Click the mouse on each of the three files one at a time and you will be prompted as to the directory and file name you wish to save each file as. For simplicity use the same names as those below. Once you have saved the three files you will need to ftp them over to your vulcan account. If you do not have a large enough quota you may need to do this one file at a time. When ftp'ing remember to set the file transfer format to binary by simply typing binary at the ftp prompt prior to sending the file. Now you need to log onto a PC and create three temporary directories disk1 disk2 disk3. Copy the three files from your z: drive to the three directories ie copying phoe1.zip to disk1, phoe2.zip to disk2, etc. Then go into each directory respectively and unzip each zip file using: pkunzip filename Next erase the zip files and copy the remaining files in each directory to three 3.5" High Density disks (each directory consists of a disk full of files). The disk which represents disk1 is the 1st disk and contains the installation program install. disk2 is the 2nd disk and disk3 is the third disk. These three disks represent the installation disks of the PHOENICS V 1.4 program. This is a list of the three files: phoe1.zip (1.3 Mb) phoe2.zip (1.3 Mb) phoe3.zip (1.4 Mb) If you have any problems installing this program first check our FAQs page and then please direct your enquires to the software manufacturer CHAM. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- FAQs about Installing PHOENICS V 1.4 Sharware --------------------------- During the process the install program gives an error message that says "please insert disk 4". This happens when you are trying to run the installation from the c drive. You need to copy the files of the three directories on the c drive to three 3.5" disks and run the installation from these disks. --------------------------- I am unable to unzip it. Which version of pkunzip is required?

We use Version 1.1 at Cranfield. --------------------------- Do only Cranfield folks have authorization to do this, or is the server just busy everytime I try? Anybody who wishes to download a copy of this program is welcome to. There is no security preventing people from outside the campus from downloading the software. You will probably experience less of a delay if you download when it is night in Europe. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Address of CHAM Europe (Head Office) Concentration, Heat & Momentum Ltd Bakery House 40 High Street Wimbledon Village London SW19 5AU United Kingdom Tel: +44 181 9477651 Fax: +44 181 8793497 E-Mail: phoenics@cham.demon.co.uk Technical Support E-Mail: usersupp@cham.demon.co.uk North America PHOENICS North America Inc.
