Instructions on how to use this CD: ----------------------------------- Animation Factory Essential Collection is designed to run like a web page. There are no programs that you need to install to run this product (provided you have an Internet browser such as Netscape or Internet Explorer already installed on your computer.) PC Users need only put the CD in the CD-ROM drive to get things going. A selection program will run, offering the options available on the CD-ROM. All other Operating Systems should point a browser to the index.html page on the CD-ROM root directory to start. Auto-Run Menu Selection detail (PC only): Browse Animations - Select here to start your default browser currently installed on your computer. If this fails to automatically start your internet browser, you will simply need to open up your Internet browser and then select the "index.html" file from the CD-ROM you are trying to view. Important Notes- Opens the file you are currently reading. Contact Us - This selection opens your default E-Mail program and prompts you to send us a message. Of course, you must be connected to the internet for this selection to function. Visit Us On-Line - Provided you have an Internet connection, you will be taken to our website. Exit- Closes the Auto-Run selection program. Finding Files- 1. If you know what you want or have a graphic in mind, chances are you can find it quickly with file find. To use this on a PC, click START, Find, Files or Folders. For the 'Look-in' field, select your CD-ROM drive. For the 'Named' field, type in the file you seek along with any wild cards. For example, if you are looking for a watermelon put water* in this field. 2. If you still can't find it, please E-mail us the suggestion. (suggestions@animationfactory.com) All the requests we receive are read and go into a special file for our artists' inspiration. The artists usually choose the animation ideas that will be useful to the most people, however, they have been known to choose things that are humorous or creative. How to save animations- For PC users, move the mouse pointer over the image you would like to save, right click on the image, then select 'save image as'. Then browse where you would like it to go, and save. For Mac users, move the mouse pointer over the image you would like to save, hold the mouse button down until the menu appears, then select 'save image as'. Then browse to where you would like it to go, and save. You may also "drag and drop" the animation directly on to your desktop. We are frequently asked if there is some special HTML code or JavaScript needed for Animated GIF's. The answer is no, absolutely no code or special HTML text is needed to use animated GIF's. Treat the Animated GIF as any ordinary graphic file, and it will be animated once a browser is used to view the page containing the animation. Technical Support: ------------------ Since this CD is made to work with your currently installed Internet browser, there isn't much that can go wrong. If you are having problems, please follow these steps. 1. Check to see if your problem is listed below. If not, proceed to step 2. 2. Log on to our Internet site and point your browser to: http://www.animationfactory.com/faq.html. If your problem was not found here, proceed to step 3. 3. Send E-mail (tech@animationfactory.com) describing the complete problem. We will either send you a return E-mail or a return call. Please don't try to get technical help by calling. You will only be able to talk with our operators/order-takers, and they do not have any training in technical support for our products. Problem: GIF's are not animated - nothing is moving. Solution: 1. You are using a browser that can't display animations. We recommend Netscape version 4.05 or higher, or Internet Explorer 4 or higher. Please download a browser that will display animated GIF's. Internet Explorer 3 or higher will display animations, and Netscape Navigator 2.0 or higher will work as well. Versions of browser software below the versions shown will not display animated GIF's. 2. You are not displaying an animated GIF. Please check to see what your browser is pointed at, and move to an area with animated GIF's. 3. You are out of GDI resources. This seems to happen after viewing quite a few pages or animations in Microsoft's Internet Explorer. Simply close the browser and re-start it again to get your GDI resources back. 4. You may have used a program to view or edit the animation that is not compatible with animated GIFs. If you are having consistent problems with animations showing up as a still image (even after viewing with an internet browser) chances are that the software you used to build your project is not compatible with animated GIFs. This happens rarely with web page design programs. This is more common if the image is edited using a program such as Photoshop, PaintShop Pro, or Corel Paint. Also, if you are viewing animated .GIFs in a presentation package, it may be necessary to view or preview the final product in order to see the images move. This is the case with PowerPoint 2000. Also, Mircosoft did not make previous versions of PowerPoint compatible with animated .GIFs. You must be using PowerPoint 2000 or better to view an animated .GIF. Problem: Colors look really bad and blotchy, many dots appear in non-animated areas. Solution: Your Screen resolution is set at 16 or 256 colors. To change the setting, right click on your desktop, select properties, select the settings tab, then, depending on the type of graphics card and memory installed on the card, you can select 16-bit, 24-bit, or 32-bit color. Please select one of these settings for optimum viewing. If you can't select 16 bit color or better, you aren't using the right drivers for your display card, or your display card is obsolete. Refer to your video card documentation to correct this situation. Problem: CD does not auto-run. Solution: 1. On a Windows Operation System (OS), Select START; then RUN, then Browse. Select the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive. Double-click Autorun.exe. 2. If you are running any other OS, the CD will not auto-run. Problem: I don't want my computer to Auto-Run this CD. Solution: Hold down the shift key on the keyboard while you insert the CD. After the CD light blinks a few times (about 10 seconds), release the shift key. Problem: CD is not accessible. Solution: 1. There are possibly fingerprints or smudges on the CD. Wipe clean and try again. 2. Your CD-ROM can't read long file names. This type of CD-ROM is very rare. They are found in older machines. If you have one, you will have to find a machine that can read long filenames, or return the CD(s) to us. 3. The CD has a manufacturing defect (very, very rare). Please contact us for a replacement or refund. Problem: The GIF is not animated in my editing software. Solution: 1. The software you are using may not display animated GIF's. Please check with your software manufacturer to determine the extent of animated .GIF support. 2. You may need to preview your project, or view the slide show to see the image animated. In most cases software will only show a still image when you are working on a project and show the animation when viewed or previewed. If for any reason, you are not satisfied with this product, just return it to us within 30 days for a complete refund.
