...to the Net's March CD.
First things first: The Net's monthly CD-ROM has a new name. After months of thoughtful consideration, heated debate, and excited brainstorming, the staff of The Net decided to drop the netPOWER name in favor of net.disc. Why the change? Well, chief among the myriad compelling reasons is the (sad? tragic?? lucky???) fact that another company has copyrighted the netPOWER name. As good corporate citizens (albeit with a tendency to move a little slow on our good intentions), we finally dropped the name.
Now on to regular business:
This CD is best viewed through
Microsoft Internet Explorer. That doesn't mean that you can't view these discs via Netscape's venerable and much-loved browser, Navigator--because you can! A lot of you have written to us complaining that the disc shouldn't ONLY run on Internet Explorer. Well, since HTML is an open standard, you can, in fact, use our discs with any frames supporting browser on the market.
You'll find a copy of Internet Explorer in the MSIE folder. Keep in mind that there is a difference of about 2 months between the time we put these discs together and the time they hit the newsstands, so for the very latest versions, go to Microsoft's site.
Send any subscription questions/issues/problems to subscribe@thenet-usa.com. If you haven't received your disc in the mail, are moving and need to change your address, or need a replacement CD-ROM, you still need to email customer service. All of our other email accounts are editorial, and will only end up being forwarded to customer service in the end!
Special thanks to Tom Hale for his hard work on the disc this month. And be sure to check out his Web site.
Please send any thoughts, comments, and ideas about netPOWER to cdrom@thenet-usa.com.
Enjoy the disc!
