Tarangire National Park, a short distance southeast of Lake Manyara, is a favored retreat for vast profusion of wildlife. In the dry season, clouds of migrating animals sweep the horizon and out of the north come long lines of zebras and wildebeest. Tarangire is the quintessence of Old Africa: a secret vastness where the animals are shy and wild and all around. Camp Tarangire lies in sheltered seclusion beneath the shade of umbrella thorn trees on the gentle slopes of the Tarangire Valley. From here, you may also drive through the heart of Masailand. There you may meet Masai herdsmen and you will discover a way of life essentially unchanged through millennia. Camp Tarangire is a permanent tented camp with amenities consisting of roomy walk-in tents, insect-proofed with mosquito-netted windows and sewn-in floor. Inside, youll find real twin beds with comfortable foam mattresses, crisp linen and warm blankets. Each tent has bedside lights and a separate bucket for showers with lots of hot water, and a discreet safari toilet with proper toilet seat and soft paper. Your tent also comes replete with table and chairs. Meals are served in well appointed insect proof dining tents, complete with tables, chairs and attached screen verandah.
