Shinde Island Camp is nestled on a lush palm island in the heart of the northern Okavango Delta. Located at the edge of a lagoon, the camp is surrounded by clear waterways which flow over yellow sands and past palm-fringed islands teeming with bird life and games. Spend your days exploring the largest inland delta in the world. This is the place to relax and get in touch with the rhythm of nature. The island is especially favored by various members of the antelope family, including the elusive sitatunga. Explore the waterways in dugout canoes and be on the lookout for the diverse bird population. One species which is especially interesting is the Fish eagle. Also nearby on Gadikwe Island are fabulous nesting sites of herons, storks, pelicans, cormorants and egrets which are accessible by specially adapted delta craft. The camp has seven tents and is a 40 minute boat ride from the airstrip. Open roof shower and toilet facilities are placed a few feet behind each tent. Activities include mokoro trips, boat rides, walks, day and night game drives and fishing for tiger fish, bream and pike. Shindes plentiful game and the silent waters of the Okavango combine to make your stay a rare experience indeed.
