Machaba Camp lies in a private concession area just outside the Moremi Wildlife Reserve and close to the Khwai River. The 2,000 square mile concession offers spectacular game viewing. Elephant often move through the camp looking for acacia pods on their way to the Khwai River. A morning and afternoon game drive along the Khwai will enable you to witness some of the behavioral patterns of many of the animals. Also to be found are buffalo, elephant, lion, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe and many different species of antelope. You may see the elusive leopard and a profusion of smaller mammals. In between game drives you may wish to relax and enjoy game viewing from one of the game viewing platforms overlooking the river. A night drive at Machaba will reveal another world. Bush babies, hyena, jackals and genets will all show themselves as well as nocturnal birds. Evenings are comfortable. After an ice-cold drink and a hot shower, enjoy a fine bush cuisine meal accompanied by excellent South African wines and a good yarn around the campfire. Retire to your comfortable bed to rest and listen to the African wild. Machaba is an enriching experience.
