Chinzombo Safari Lodge: Nestled in a shady grove of magnificent ebony and mahogany trees on the banks of the Luangwa River, Chinzombo Safari Lodge offers accommodation for a maximum of 18 guests. Nine thatched chalets offer charming, comfortable accommodations with excellent twin or double beds, en suite modern bathrooms and electricity. It is a small, personalized lodge, known for its friendly, welcoming atmosphere and scenic location overlooking the National Park. Elephants, giraffe and hippo often wander into camp, and other wildlife is regularly seen drinking at the rivers edge. Game viewing takes place in open vehicles driven by qualified trail leaders and occurs twice daily, in the early morning and afternoon. Night drives are permitted with spot beams to glimpse the fascinating nocturnal world of lions, hyena, civets, honey badgers, and porcupines. Most remarkable however, are the leopards which are frequently observed stalking, hunting, and interacting with other predators, giving visitors a chance for unique night photography. Foot safaris in Luangwa were established many years ago and are offered at Chinzombo from June to November. Other activities include all-day drives into a distant part of the park with a picnic lunch, uncommercial visits to a nearby village which allows guests to meet local Zambians and gain an insight into traditional life and customs, or a relaxing dip in the pool during the heat of the day.
