Elephant Back Safaris conducts its unique wilderness experience from Abu Camp, located on the banks of the Nxabega River in the southwestern part of the Okavango Delta. The camp is named after Randall Moores legendary lead elephant Abu. Abu leads a herd of 13 African elephants, comprising 6 adults and 7 youngsters. Access to Abu Camp is by air, followed by a short bush drive. The camp is hidden under African ebony trees, overlooking a lagoon and consists of five luxurious East African style safari tents, each with a bathroom en suite, comprising a bucket shower and flush toilets. Sundowners and meals are taken in the shade of a giant fig tree. Full and half day elephant-back safaris, mokoro rides, walks and game drives by vehicle are operated. Venture out each day with these gentle giants to view the wildlife from a truly unique vantage point. Being part of an elephant family allows the unique opportunity of approaching and interacting with a wide variety of other game by blending in with nature.
