ADAM ARKIN

As a child growing up in New York City, Adam Arkin (Dr. Aaron Shutt) knew that he wanted to become an actor. At 10, he enrolled in acting classes at HB Studio and, as the eldest son of actor Alan Arkin, enjoyed hanging out at the theater and on the film set. He got his first acting role in the film Made for Each Other when he was 14. Two years later, he appeared in Clifford Odets' Waiting for Lefty at the Manhattan Theater Club.

Adam had starring roles in the series Busting Loose and Big Wave Dave's, and was nominated for an Emmy Award for his recurring role as the eccentric Adam on Northern Exposure. Among his additional television credits are a starring role in the series A Year in the Life, and guest-starring roles in the series Picket Fences, China Beach, L.A. Law, St. Elsewhere and Law & Order. Among his feature-film credits are Wrestling Ernest Hemingway, Baseball, The Doctor, Personal Foul and Under the Rainbow.

In 1991, he made his Broadway debut as Gary Peter Lefkowitz in I Hate Hamlet, for which he received a Tony Award nomination. His additional stage credits include the Broadway revival of Guys and Dolls, and Off-Broadway's Sight Unseen and Four Dogs and a Bone. Adam divides his time between homes in Seattle, Washington and Beverly Hills, California.
