GENERAL HOSPITAL

General Hospital (GH) centers around the friends and families of Port Charles, a fictional town in New York. The Quartermaines are the well-to-do family, while the Spencers are the family from the "wrong side of the tracks." Issues from past stories have included organ donation, cancer, single parenthood and divorce. GH recently celebrated thirty years of broadcasting and, since 1979, has been the longest running daytime drama produced on the West Coast. The November 1981 wedding between characters Luke and Laura attracted the largest viewing audience in daytime drama history. Former cast members include Demi Moore and Rick Springfield. GH airs weekdays on ABC.
