Saab, an acronym in Swedish for the "Swedish Aircraft Company," was established in 1937. In 1950 Saab produced its first automobile, and in 1956 Saab made its U.S. debut at the New York Auto Show. Saab currently produces jet fighters, large trucks, and sells its passenger cars in the U.S. through approximately 285 dealerships.
