I am convinced that the prevention of needless cancer is one of our most important goals in the war to beat this disease. If everything we already know about preventing and detecting cancer were only applied universally, we could eliminate a huge percentage of today's cancer deaths. We have a tremendous opportunity to stop nearly a third of cancer deaths simply by eliminating one single well-known carcinogen: tobacco.
