Redlense@u.washington.edu Jun 22 92 Hello Amos users, and welcome to my first little game: BiteMe! Yes, BiteMe! is the name. This is just a little programming exercise of mine. Notice I said programming, and NOT graphics and sound! You can do whatever you want with this program. Play it, love it, hate it, change it - but if you make it better, how about sending me a copy?! BiteMe was written with Amos 1.3 and should work on 512k machines. Playing BiteMe!: BiteMe! is yet another PacMan game (any resemblence of BiteMe to any other game in its genre is purely coincidental...). Hopefully BiteMe has enough new twists and good enough gameplay to keep ya busy for a while. BiteMe is played with a joystick in port two. As far as gameplay, I think only the new features need explaining. TURNSTILES: You can turn these, but the enemy bugs cannot. Use these to change the maze and block their pursuit. SKULLS: These kill. Both you AND the enemy. RELEASE TIMER: Watch this gauge on the right hand side of the maze to warn when insects will venture from their nests. VEGETABLES: When all four insects leave the nest, a vegetable will appear in the bug nest. Gobble the vegetable to temporarily stun the foes! But watch out - the insects can still kill you, and if an insect hits a skull he will be instantly transported to the nest. HEARTS: Bite a heart when it's blue to multiply your score for the rest of the level by the amount indicated on the right hand side panel LETTERS: Yellow letters A, E, R, T and X count toward spelling EXTRA. You win an extra life and go on to the next level of game play. Red letters A, C, E, I, L, P and S count toward spelling SPECIAL You win a vegetable harvest bonus screen and a chance for extra points, then move on to the next level of game play. QUITTING: Press the letter 'Q' or the ESC key when it asks you to press button to start. That should be it as far as gameplay for BiteMe! If you feel so inclined to improve the sounds (boom, bell, shoot) or the graphics of BiteMe and have coding questions, just Email me. Okay, now I'm sick of this game, and want to move onto something better! I have a lot of AMOS projects planned for this summer - and I'm not very good at graphics or sound, so if you like to do that, how about being a nice person and volunteering to do graphics or sound for me? :) Or, if you're into coding games in AMOS, Email me too. I want to hear what people are doing with Amos! (I live in Seattle, Wa. and don't see much AMOS) Thanks, and have fun! -Eric (redlense@milton.u.washington.edu)
