PR-52 and PR-222 ModificationPR-52 / PR-222 Modifications ADI is now marketing two brand new handhelds, one for 6-Meters and one for 220 MHz, under their "Pryme Radio" name. Like their past units, both of these radios are keypad modifiable for expanded transmit coverage. After mod the PR-222 will cover 216 - 228 MHz Tx/Rx, which includes a MARS band and the Canadian ham band. The PR-52 will cover the entire VHF low-band including business, Red Cross, and personal communications frequencies from 40 - 54 MHz. (NOTE: In the U.S. it is illegal to use this radio on any band for which it is not type accepted and on which you are not licensed. Perform these modifications at your own risk!) SOFTWARE MODS: STEP ONE: Turn the radio off. STEP TWO: Hold down the "FUNC" and "UP" keys and turn the unit on. Hold down these keys for approximately 6 - 10 seconds. The display will go blank. STEP THREE: Release both keys. After another 10 - 12 seconds the LCD will appear to be going through the radio's normal start-up sequence. Finally, after about 20 seconds the VFO frequency will appear on the display The modification is now complete. The radio's Tx/Rx range will now be expanded. Back to home
