I'm Lapis, Princess of Sorcer-Land.
I may look like just another
princess, but what you don't
know is that I can use the
great powers of the Magic-Eraser.
Isn't that awesome?
Suddenly Princess (Detatoko Princess) or Suddenly Pudding-cess since the
kanji of the title is a pun on the main character : a 3 episode OVA series
being a satire of the pretty girl genre.
Each episode is pretty much a self contained story as Lapis, and friends,
journey home.
Set in a mystical land of beasts, magic, and heroes; with plenty of hilarious
comedy.
MAIN CHARACTERS :
Lapis (Yuko Miyamura) -- Princess of Sorcer-Land and wielder of a power known as the Magic-eraser, capable of nullifying any source of magic. Lapis has little since of responsibility except for taking situations and exaggerating them completely out of proportion. However, Lapis does have one incessant joy of life: the constant consumption of pudding.
Kohaku (Tomokazu Seki) -- swordsman and body guard of Lapis. Kohaku has one small problem: he is cursed with invulnerability. No matter how many times you slice him or dice him; he will eventually regenerate. No matter what the danger, Kohaku is always there to handle it; and if he is not there fast enough, Lapis or Jiya will simply throw him into the fray.
Jiya (Takeshi Aono) -- mentor and educational advisor of Princess Lapis. Besides being driven absolutely crazy from the Princess' irresponsibility, Jiya is there to guide the princess through life with all of the information and wisdom that she will ever need.
Topaz (Aya Hisakawa) -- the resident wicked
witch and the world's most renown collector of pretty girls. Topaz will
stop at absolutely nothing to add Lapis to her collection of pretty girls
no matter what the cost.
SUPPORTING CHARACTERS :
Nandra (Mika Kanai) -- a pixie and constant companion of Lapis; the two are almost virtually inseparable.
Sapphire (Maria Kawamura) -- mother of Princess Lapis who gets the destination wrong with the magic portal and sends her daughter half way around the world.
Diamond (Akio Ohtsuka) -- father of Princess Lapis who secretly follows his daughter on her forced journey to keep an eye on her.
Servants -- Topaz's two faithful servants
no matter what the situation or danger.
EPISODES : (NO PLOT SPOILERS, JUST GENERALIZATIONS OF THE EPISODES)
Episode 1 : Force Your Adorn Daughter to go on a Journey -- Having once again exaggerated a situation out of proportion, Sapphire decides to send her daughter on a journey to force her to learn some responsibility. But with a magic gate and a wrong destination to a place where mayhem is not tolerated, our Princess' journey has only just begun.
Episode 2 : Face-Off at the Forest of Puddings -- A forest where puddings grow? To Lapis it is the ultimate paradise in the world. However, a nearby magician with a konyaku (jellied yam cake) fettish has decided that the forest needs to be demolished and turned into a konyaku field. Not if Lapis has anything to say about it.
Episode 3 : Wrath of the Health Brother Trio --
Sound health, a wish of all living things, except for Lapis. After being
forced to exercise excessively due to one too many puddings, Lapis has
decided that the Health Brother Trio, or the Celtic Bagpipe Trio as the
she thinks, has got a thing coming.
