Kindaichi is a lazy seventeen year old high school student, and he almost doesn't pass 10th grade. The special thing about Kindaichi is that he had a really famous detective for a grandfather, and he seems to have inherited this talent in solving really perplexing mysteries. In all of the mysteries he seems to get involved in, there just happens to be a murder in which the murderer was really smart and had a really great cover-up. Kindaichi, however, always manages to find some sort of flaw and solves the mystery and in the end the murderer explains the whole murder and she/he always has a good reason for the murder (mostly for revenge).

May Shue ( I don't really know her name so I just took the Chinese translation) is Kindaichi's best friend and they have grown up together. She follows Kindaichi on most of his adventures and she somehow gets captured or in a dangerous place sometimes and Kindaichi shows his braveness when he saves her.

Ling Sheung is another girl in love with Kindaichi. She is a hot new Japanese star and she met Kindaichi in another one of his cases. It seems like Kindaichi can't make up his mind between the two (personally I don't think he deserves either), and he flips out when any other good looking girl comes along his path. This isn't my favorite manga by far but it was the first one that appealed to me and got me reading Japanese Comic Books so I still kind of like it.
