Once your Library is set up, you now need to tell FileHamster what files you want
it to watch. There are two basic types of watch: File watch, and Directory
Watch.
Since setup of these is mostly the same, we will just describe the process of
setting up a directory to be watched.
To begin, either click on the File Menu and choose "Add Directory..." from the
drop down, or right-click on the Library and choose "Add Directory Watch..."
This will bring up a browse dialog. Choose a location and hit OK.
For the sake of simplicity, just leave it at the default setting to watch everything
and hit OK. To learn more about the different methods of watching directories,
please go here.
You will be prompted about creating an initial revision. This enables you to set
up a starting point for your files. If you choose not to do an initial revision for any
files, please note that none of your files are backed up yet. In most cases we
recommend that you allow FileHamster to create this initial revision for all the
files. However, it could take a substantial amount of time if you have a lot of files
or some of them are very large. Also, you may not always want to create a
backup of every single file because a lot of hard drive space might needlessly be
taken up.
Setup is now complete! Anytime you modify or create a file in this directory,
FileHamster will now detect the changes and back it up. Your data is now
secure!
