The MantaDB Web Tool

Using the MantaDB Page Handling Options

The Page Handling tab of the configuration dialog box determines the actions MantaDB will take when processing incoming Web pages from Internet Explorer. The configuration dialog box is started by pressing the configuration button on the MantaDB toolbar displayed within Internet Explorer.

When Internet Explorer Starts Options

MantaDB is designed to work quietly in the background. Each time an Internet Explorer session is started MantaDB connects to it and begins its work. The When Internet Explorer Starts Options determine the settings of MantaDB for each new browser session. The startup options can always be overridden individually in each browser session.

Enable Automatic Page Indexing: MantaDB can be set to automatically index every page you view in your Internet Explorer session - or just the pages you specifically indicate. If you wish MantaDB to begin each new Internet Explorer session in autoindex mode then select this option. If this option is not selected MantaDB will not automatically enter the words on the viewed web pages into its database. At any time you can manually enable Automatic Page Indexing in the Internet Explorer session by pressing the Automatic Page Indexing button  on the MantaDB toolbar or index the current page through the use of the Index Current Page button .

Enable Pop-Up window killing: Pop-Up windows are those little advertising windows that appear when browsing the pages of some Web sites. A few Web sites really over do it sending those banners up in an annoying way for every page viewed. MantaDB can intercept these Pop-Ups before they appear. This feature is enabled through the use of the Stop Pop-Ups button . If you want MantaDB to start every session in Stop Pop-Up mode check this option. The Pop-Up killing state of each browser session can be set individually.

IE5 always starts maximized: Internet Explorer can operate in Full Screen mode (try the F11 key). However, when new browsers are launched they always appear as window and must be set to full screen manually. MantaDB can prevent this and make sure all new browser sessions appear full screen. This feature is enabled through the use of the Launch Full Screen button . If you want MantaDB to start every session in full screen mode check this option. The full screen mode behaviour of each browser session can be set individually.

Default Behavior Options
Never Index Local Documents: Local documents are html files on the local disk (such as this help file if MantaDB is installed). If you do not want MantaDB to index these types of documents check this box.

Never Index Pages ? words or Less: Many small pages such as those little advertising windows that appear on some Web sites have no real content and clutter up the database taking up space without really adding any meaningful search capabilities. If you do not wish to automatically index such pages check this box and set the word limit to the level desired. Using the Index Current Page button will override this setting so specific small pages can always be indexed if required.

General Properties
Use System Sounds: MantaDB plays its own sounds for notification of errors and other events. If you wish to use the sounds that are provided by your Windows operating system check this box. All of the sounds provided with the MantaDB software are located in the Sounds subdirectory of the installation directory.
