For info on the technology of all
sorts, past and present. Digital Moments URL: http://www.menuez.com Doug Menuez is a photo-journalist who has spent the last decade documenting the growth of computer technology. In his Digital Moments site, sub-titled '36 Images from the Technological Revolution', he presents a slice of photo history for us. The 36 images change — each visit to the site you may encounter a different set of images. You might not associate terms such as 'intimate' with a history of computers, but that's what much of Menuez's work is. As a Web site, it's
somewhat shocking because it's entirely linear. You go
from the beginning of the collection to the end, no
jumping from one shot to another (unless you cheat and
type in URLs directly). I found it very restricting,
which, in itself, was an interesting experience and made
me realise how much the Web is affecting expectations
about how we view information. |
