HP Soft Power Down for WinNT4

HP Soft Power Down utility is designed for Windows NT 4.0 with service pack up to SP6.

It automatically powers off the PC when pressing Shutdown from the NT start menu.

Known limitations

This feature is based on the APM 1.1 BIOS functions and is intended to be applied on x86 PC. If you install it on a system that does not support APM 1.1, "Shutdown" and "Shutdown and Power Off" will result in "Shutdown and restart". Therefore, it is not recommended to use Soft Power-Down with such systems.

This program can only be installed under WinNT4.

Comments

The Soft Power-Down feature is visible in the shutdown dialog box as follow 'Shutdown and PowerOff'. Selecting this option will power off the PC.
Warning: If you shutdown from the start menu, the "Shutdown and Poweroff" option is not listed in the dialog box. However, a "Shutdown" will perform an actual shutdown and power off.
If you press <ctrl+alt+del> the "Shutdown and Poweroff" option is listed.

If you install Soft Power-Down on a system where HP Lock for Windows NT 4.0 is also installed, it is possible to activate or deactivate Soft Power-Down from HP Lock User Interface (HP Lock control panel applet, Lock folder, Soft Power-Down check-box).
