The degree of sharpness of an image shown on the display. The unit for representing display resolution is dpi. However, the term display resolution is also used in defining the resolution capacity of the display itself. The resolution of the display is substantially lower than that of a scanner or printer. Hence, for the purpose of reproducing images on a homepage, where the resolution requirements are substantially less than that of the scanner and printer, a resolution of about 72-100 dpi is adequate.
