Bit (Binary digit) |
It is the minimal numeral unit (either "0" or "1") for processing computerized data. For instance, numbers from 0 to 255 can be represented by 8 bits, 0 to 1023 by 10 bits, and 0 to 4096 by 12 bits. In the case of the GT-5500 scanner, each color of the RGB color system (Red, Green, Blue) can be input with 10 bits, and can represent 1024 gradations, or 1,073,741,824 colors. |
