When a neutral gray is placed first against a bright gray background and then against a black background, it will appear brighter in the second instance. |

Chroma contrast

When a low-chroma orange is placed first against a high-chroma orange background and then against a colorless gray one, it will appear more brilliant (higher chroma) in the second case. |
